Gonna need a bigger bookcase...

I have books, lots of books. Kinda happens when you work with the things all the time. They just beguile you with their pretty covers, flutter their tempting blurbs at you until you give in and add it to the collection. You wrap it up in a nice bag, take it home, sit down and flip through those crisp pages, admire the font, oggle the pictures and say...'I'll read that one day.' Then you pop it in a bookcase (yeah, dream on - like you've got an empty shelf) or add it to the stack by the side of the bed if it's one of those, the can't-wait-to-get-stuck-in type. And then you forget about it. It's nice to know you've got it and that one day you'll enjoy discovering its mysteries, until you go to look for it and find you've forgotten where it went and spend then next two years wondering... (Why, Richard Hammond, were you there???)

So, I thought I'd list a few here that I'm currently reading or desperate to get to or hankering to buy.

On the slush pile

Deceiver by CJ Cherryh

This is book 11 in the Foreigner series, an amazing political adventure science fiction series that just gets better with each book.
Stargate SG-1 Two Roads
by Geonn Cannon
    Stargate, Daniel, Vala... woohoo!

Working their way to the top of the pile

Last Man Down by Richard 'Pitch' Picciotto
One of the many heroic firemen who were caught up in the Twin Towers.
Dust and Light by Carol Berg
This is gonna be good. Every book she writes is better than the one before. One to savour, me thinks, might wait till book two comes out.

Research, writing inspirations and stuff
First Order : Australia's Highway of Lighthouses by Garry Searle
I have a thing for lighthouses, so this big beautiful book is a double joy. Major scene in my new book is placed at a lighthouse - great inspiration.
Broken Nation: Australians in the Great War by Joan Beaumont
The Battle for Australia by Bob Wurth
Coal Creek by Alex Miller

Coming to a credit card near you...

Marina Warner - new book on fairy tales - eeeee! - took one look and ordered it - can't remember what it's called, but eeeee!!!
